ABOUT THE SHOW
DOPE MEDICINE hosted by Dr. Bernard Ashby MD, is a television series that conveys smart, compelling and entertaining healthcare information and medical facts, all delivered in a fast-paced style, on evocative sets, and trendy hip locations. The show has an ensemble cast of real people who are quirky and fun; along with weekly guest stars. Dope Medicine is replete with clever conversation, witty dialogue, and common-sense examples of the intricacies within our modern healthcare system. Each episode includes tips and advice on how to get and stay healthy, as well as a soundtrack representative of today’s Hip Hop culture. Dope Medicine will use innovative and fun imagery to present solid, usable information to aid viewers in their navigation of today’s busy world so that they may learn and apply healthy habits in everyday life.
Each episode will present a variety of topics in the realm of clinical medicine, ranging from heart disease to thyroid dysfunction and toe fungus to eczema. Topics about health policy, such as prescription drug coverage, and Medicare, will be explained. The show also will introduce old world self-healthcare concepts: how it works, who it benefits, and when to seek the advice of a professional physician. Guest stars, such as public influencers, celebrities, and regular folks, will share their personal stories with the audience. We will also see behind the scenes of Dr. B’s other life, where he has developed a music recording studio and pop culture information platform that helps inner-city youth find a way to better their life circumstances. All aspects of the show will be pulled together in a quick, common-sense, fact-based, fun and informative show that will educate and entertain audiences around the world.

CAST OF CHARACTERS
Dr Bernard Ashby “Dr. B”
Born and raised in South Florida, Dr. Bernard Ashby is a vascular cardiologist and internist who specializes in clinical cardiology, vascular medicine, and general medicine. He received his medical degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. He started his career as an academic vascular cardiologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, and as a professor of Medicine at Columbia University. He is passionate about providing medical care to the people in the community he grew up in. Dr. B. is the host and co-creator of the hit television series Dope Medicine, and the man behind both the FDF Project, a multimedia platform that curates music, news, and culture from all around South Florida; and AG250 Studios, a recording studio and record label he founded to help give young people in his neighborhood a voice through music.
Shein Mompremier
Growing up in Miami, FL as a Haitian descendant, Shein quickly discovered her love for art and performance. She trained in classical ballet for a few years, then transitioned into theater after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in psychology. She has since been a working actor in film, theater, and commercials.
Laura Ault :
Laura was born and raised in Texas, just like the six generations before. She knew she would grow up to be a horse jockey, a veterinarian, or an actor. However, she developed long legs and pet allergies, so she made the most logical and financially stable choice…acting! Laura threw her stuff in a bunch of boxes and headed to NYC. While she waited for her big break, Laura discovered her passion for songwriting when she teamed up with some songwriters and producers. She wrote and recorded two albums, “All of the Above” and “The Greatest Thing”. She has licensed several of her songs to such hit television shows The Kardashians, The Bachelor, Oprah Winfrey, Guiding Light, and many more. Today Laura is a working actor, writer, and musician living in Miami, FL.
Lois Ho:
Lois Ho was born in Hong Kong. At age ten, she was admitted as a part-time student by the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, majoring in Piano. Lois has won numerous awards at the Hong Kong Music Festival, and served as Principal Cellist at the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra for 3 years. She was granted a music scholarship at 16 to pursue A-level studies at Marlborough College in Wiltshire, United Kingdom. She holds a B.A. in Modern Languages with a minor in Linguistics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Professional Certificate in Translation for French into English from New York University. Since her move to Miami, Florida in 2003, Lois has starred in commercial and print campaigns for clients such as Canadian Tire, Office Depot, Ulta Beauty, Jiffy Lube, The Home Depot, Orange Theory, Rexona, to name a few.
Kenyatis Jones “Thatboyfunny”
Kenyatis Jones, AKA Thatboyfunny, was born in Gould, FL. He grew up in a small house in which more than eleven people lived together. He graduated top of his high school class and then received his associate’s degree at Florida A&M University. He decided, after a period of deep reflection, that college was not for him and packed up his stuff to move to California following his dream of entertaining people through laughter. Kenyatis has built a large social media following with his thatboyfunny videos. He also pursues acting and standup comedy.
Romulo Bernal:
Seeking a better life for their son, Romolo’s parents immigrated from Ecuador to Miami where he was born and raised. He is from a musical family and learned to play many instruments at a young age, including drums, guitar, and bass, as well as learning Flamenco Cajón and songwriting. Romulo is a talented voice actor, and the musical and artistic director for several English, Spanish, Portuguese television series. He also plays drums and composes for the band “Falseta”, and can be heard on their albums: the eponymous “Falseta”, “Thought Process”, and their latest release, “Radiance”.
Bruce Michael: Actor, Not a real doctor
Bruce has most recently appeared in the shows Ballers, Magic City, I Am Frankie, Talia in the Kitchen, The Glades, Burn Notice, and numerous film and Television commercials. He is the voice of HBO-LA Family Channel and The Suzanne (Summers) Show. He has been a working actor for over forty years. He has performed as a pianist & MC off-Broadway, and with the improvisational comedy group Chicago City Limits. Bruce is a versatile actor and we be trippin’ that he is a part of the Dope Medicine Cast.
Crystal Montes: Real Nurse, Actress
Crysmarie is one of Cherokee Uniforms top Instagram models, and she is the real-deal in the hospital halls as she works to heal our fellow neighbors when they are illin’ and in need of chillin’. It’s a wonder she finds the time to come down to Dope Medicine HQ and school us on some medical facts.

Joe Stone: Writer, Producer, Actor
Joe Stone, Executive Producer, is among the originators of the 1980’s Miami music scene. He is the curator of Miami’s famed TK Productions catalogue and Henry Stone Music. Among the hits he produced are Sally (That Girl) by the Gucci Crew II (1987) and Cars That Go Boom by L’Trimm (1988), which exposed the Miami bass music scene to the world. He also produced and performed several comedy parody hits by the 2 Live Jews and he brought to Techno music to USA with 2 Unlimited ‘s “Get Ready For This” sorts anthem. Stone is a stalwart professional, and his music credits also include productions with James Brown, The Black-Eyed Peas, and Kanye West. Stone has also appeared on such television shows as Live with Regis, The Fresh Prince, South Beach with Vanesa Williams, as well as various films, television and radio commercials.
Jeff Somerstein: Writer, Producer, Puppeteer
Mr. Somerstein is the Operations Manager for Accord Productions. He started his career at an early age with the Farley Brothers, working with Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear and the production business has been in his blood ever since. He is passionate about his industry, and works regularly as a director, writer and producer. And to top it all off he is the voice of Irving the puppet on Dope Medicine to help inform and educate with a laugh. Jeff is a veritable who’s who in the television world, and his skill are unequaled in the Twenty-Two Hundred block of Coconut Grove, Florida.
